Run for freedom! The D-Day Landings Marathon, known in France as Le Marathon de Liberté or Marathon of Freedom,  is more than a race, it’s a journey through history. Join us as we explore the landmarks of the Battle of Normandy and celebrate the strength of the human spirit.

D-Day Landings Marathon pays tribute to the events of the D-Day through sport, and running in particular. This tribute is reflected, among other things, in the race course, which takes in the key sites of the D-Day landings in June 1944 and the Battle of Normandy that ensued.

D-Day Landings Marathon is preparing for a monumental event in 2024, as part of the celebrations commemorating the 80th anniversary of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy. Thus, you have an excellent opportunity to explore this  rich chapter in the history of World War II while participating in an impressive sporting event.

The marathon course is renowned for its beauty, with stunning views to be enjoyed throughout the 42.195 km distance. It is no wonder that this marathon is considered one of the best qualifying marathons for the Abbott World Marathon Majors age categories.

But it’s not just the personal challenge that makes this race special – it’s also an opportunity to discover the landmarks of the D-Day Landings and the Battle of Normandy. The course takes participants through Juno and Sword beaches, Ouistreham Casino, Pegasus Bridge, and other essential sites, making it a great opportunity to pay tribute to history while enjoying the sport.

Whether you are a seasoned marathon runner or a beginner, the D-Day Landings Marathon is an excellent choice. With 36 successful editions to its name and national FFA label, this event is one of the most significant in France.
